Experience of David Popescu in the youth exchange Hackers of Life (HoL) that took place in Lorca, Murcia from the 20th to the 26th of August 2019.
I was very impressed in the project when the two experts in cybersecurity came and basically showed us how easy it is for an unknown person to hack into our computers, our account, in other words to put it in our personal life. So my idea is to make people more aware of the risk that come with this digital world, to show them just how is it is if you don’t protect yourself, to get hacked, to have parts of your personal life taken from you. Because the general idea of many of us is that,”this thing would never happen to me” or if it happens I don’t have anything that important that I will fell grave consequences,so my idea is to challenge this theories if they are the same with the practical thing.Because I know from my experience that is very different ,to show people that impossible is very possible, that is what make them to change.I think that is not that hard to put this idea in practice, but you need some good hacker to be willing to do this demonstration in a public place ,on random people from every age ,to see their reactions ,and the reactions of people around them .For me it worked after the demonstration in the project when they found my password after that a change it and update my security ,until that point I didn’t even realise how much I care for those things on my email accounts,so it is possible to change your perspective ,when your previous one is challenged by new ideas.
