Experience of Diana Popescu in the youth exchange Hackers of Life (HoL) that took place in Lorca, Murcia from the 20th to the 26th of August 2019.
Hello! I am Diana Popescu and I took part in the Youth exchange „Hackers of life” in Lorca, Spain this summer.
Being a participant in such a project is a great opportunity to meet new people, make friends to visit in the future and learn more about others and yourself. I do believe each project is life changing when it comes to new ways of thinking and seeing things from a different perspective than your own. Each time I come back home I feel like a new, wiser person who wants to go on yet another projectJ.
I learned a lot the week I spent in Lorca starting with how to use some interesting editing programs such as Filmora. I have never edited any video material in my life, so this was a start. It was way easier than I thought and also fun to record during the activities. I met people very passionate about this who were willing to share their expertise and teach me how to edit.
On a culinary level, the intercultural nights provided a taste of each countries’ specialties that everyone enjoyed. Some Bulgarian “pita”, dipped in Greek “tzatziki” and for desert some Italian “tiramisu” and Romanian “Eugenia” to go with a sip of the best homemade “sangria” is the perfect cultural mix we all formed in this project. A wise person used to say that food brings people together but so does dancing and music. During the evenings each one of us was the dance teacher, the apprentice, the DJ or the singer. I learned some traditional dances and I sang with all my heart with the others. I think the most important thing is that we all had a lot of fun together.
As I see it, projects like this are priceless experiences in life that every young person should try.
